Get an International Driving Permit
An International Driving Permit is an alternative to having a driver's license and could allow you to drive in other countries if you don't have one. You can get an International Driving Permit by visiting your local DMV and paying the required fee.
Drive on Private Property
If you are planning on driving on private property, such as your own, don't worry about getting a driver's license or registering the vehicle. All you need is permission from the owner of the property and it should be noted in your contract or lease agreement with them that you have permission to drive on their land for specific purposes, such as running errands and visiting friends.
Get a License from Another Country
It may seem like the easiest thing in the world to pick up and drive in another country if you have your driver’s license from your home country, but be warned: many countries require that you get an International Driver Permit as well as your driver’s license from your home country before you can drive there.
Use a Legal Loophole
It is illegal to drive in the state of California unless you have a valid driver's license, but there are ways to get around this law and still be able to drive.
California law states that people can drive if they have what is called an implied consent. This means that by operating a car on the street, you are agreeing with the law that says you must have a driver's license in order to do so.
